A Legacy in the Making

The Heart Behind the Legacy

Six Decades of Hospitality. One Family’s Vision.

In 2007, The Old San Francisco Steakhouse was acquired by businesswoman and entrepreneur Veronica Segovia. Drawing on her experience founding and growing Absolutely Delicious Catering — one of San Antonio’s most respected catering companies — Veronica brought both the expertise and the passion needed to breathe new life into a beloved landmark.

Under her leadership, The Old San Francisco has evolved into a premier destination for private events of all kinds — from intimate gatherings and corporate galas to elegant weddings, quinceañeras, and social celebrations. Every space has been thoughtfully transformed into a modern, sophisticated event center, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, curated menus, and comprehensive full-service event planning.

Today, Veronica is joined by her daughter Larissa, who quite literally grew up within the walls of The Old San Francisco. With a deep personal connection to the venue and a clear vision for its future, Larissa represents the next generation of leadership — committed to preserving the traditions that define OSF while elevating the guest experience for a new era of celebrations.

A Legacy in the Making

Six Decades of Hospitality. One Family’s Vision.

1968

The Dream Takes Shape

On Sahara Drive in San Antonio, a legend is born. Henry Reed opens The Old San Francisco Steakhouse — one of the city’s very first steakhouses — introducing San Antonio to a dining experience unlike anything it had ever seen. From the moment guests stepped through the doors, they were transported to another era. Barbary Coast architecture, museum-quality artifacts, live piano music, and the iconic Girl on the Red Velvet Swing made The Old San Francisco not just a restaurant, but a destination. Dignitaries, locals, and visitors from around the world would come to call it their own.

1970s–1990s

A San Antonio Institution

Through three remarkable decades, The Old San Francisco cements its place in the heart of San Antonio. The flaming desserts, the giant Swiss cheese block, the sourdough bread, the dueling pianos — these became the rituals of celebration for generations of San Antonio families. Birthdays, anniversaries, rehearsal dinners, and milestone moments — if it mattered, it happened at OSF. The accolades followed naturally: #1 Steakhouse in San Antonio, Best Steak in San Antonio, and a coveted spot among Texas’ Top 10 Steakhouses. The Old San Francisco wasn’t just a restaurant — it was a rite of passage.

2007

A New Vision. A Familiar Soul.

Businesswoman and entrepreneur Veronica Segovia acquires The Old San Francisco Steakhouse, bringing with her the expertise and passion of her award-winning company, Absolutely Delicious Catering. From the beginning, her vision is clear — honor the soul of this San Antonio landmark while building something entirely new. In that same year, Veronica receives the 2008 President’s Award from the National Association of Catering Executives and the Corporate Award from the La Prensa Foundation’s Outstanding Women in Action Awards — recognition of a leader who has already proven she can build something extraordinary.

2008 – Present

Transformed. Reimagined. Elevated.

The transformation begins. Every space within The Old San Francisco is modernized — state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, refreshed décor, curated menus, and comprehensive full-service event planning. The steakhouse of yesterday becomes the premier event destination of today. From elegant weddings and quinceañeras to distinguished corporate galas and social celebrations of every kind, The Old San Francisco finds a new calling — one that honors its storied past while welcoming a new generation of guests. Across 25,000 square feet of beautifully appointed spaces, the legacy continues to grow.

Today

The Next Generation

Veronica is now joined by her daughter Larissa, who quite literally grew up within these walls. With a deep personal connection to the venue and a clear vision for its future, Larissa represents the next chapter of The Old San Francisco story — committed to preserving the traditions that define this landmark while elevating every guest experience for years to come. Together, mother and daughter carry forward Captain Tony Taylor’s original dream: to offer the people of San Antonio — and all who find their way here — a place where every celebration feels like a legend in the making.

"The Crystal Room was absolutely gorgeous and included everything — tables, chairs, linens, glassware, bartenders, wait staff, and even centerpiece vases. Planning my wedding was so much easier with everything taken care of. I saved so much money without sacrificing a single detail."

— Rachel M., Bride, San Antonio

"I would challenge anyone to find a plated dinner and open bar reception at the price and quality The Old San Francisco provides. The chandeliers are stunning — when they dim the lights and the uplighting comes on, this place simply oozes romance."

— James & Carol T., Event Guests, San Antonio

"We had no idea what a wonderful place The Old San Francisco really was until we were inside. The room was just beautiful — chandeliers, windows as walls, a water fountain outside. The food was absolutely exquisite. If you are looking for a place for your next event, look no further."
